From August 2009 until December 2012, I served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Institute of Telematics. I worked primarily as a Principal Investigator in the SmartAssist project, which is developing next-generation Ambient Assisted Living technologies for senior citizens in home health-care scenarios. I was also co-founder of the University's Ambient Computing Group and founder of the Ambient Dynamix project; an open plug-and-play context framework for mobile devices. My research interests span ubiquitous computing; context-awareness; mobile computing; cloud computing; interaction design; mixed reality; and streaming media.
I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the from the University of Lübeck in 2009 for a dissertation titled "Ocean: Towards Web-scale Context-aware Computing." I received my M.Sc. in Digital Media from the International School of New Media in 2005 for research in extensible ubiquitous computing infrastructure. I graduated with a B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering Technology from Minnesota State University Mankato in 1998, where I specialized in digital systems and wireless communications.
